About Chandigarh
Chandigarh - The City Beautiful is the first planned city of Modern India. The master plan of the city was developed by Swiss-French architect Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, also known as Le Corbusier. The city is located in the foothills of Shivaliks, which forms a part of the Himalayan ecosystem. Chandigarh derives its name from deity ‘Chandi’, the goddess of power and has a temple named 'Chandi Mandir' while 'garh' means 'fort'. Chandigarh is the capital of Punjab and Haryana that borders the city. The emblem of Chandigarh "Open hand" signifies openness of thoughts and ideas.

Weather
Chandigarh weather during spring season (February end to March) is fairly pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 25oC.
Connectivity
By air:
Chandigarh has its own airport located around 12 km from the city center. It links the city with the rest of the country by an extensive network of domestic flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Srinagar and Ahemdabad.
By road:
Chandigarh has excellent road connectivity with neighboring cities. Many direct buses and taxi services are available from Delhi, Amritsar, Dharamshala, Shimla etc. National Highway 1 (NH1) connects Delhi with Chandigarh with 4-5 hours journey time.
By train:
Chandigarh railway station is located around 8 km from city center and has many frequent trains plying from neighboring cities like Delhi and Amritsar. From there, local buses, taxis and autos may be taken to reach any part of the city.
